The Witching Hour Sessions – Bruce Springsteen

The Witching Hour Sessions – 19/02/2018

Bruce Springsteen

Picking my 3 favourite Bruce albums is a hard one but for tonight this is ’em (as the well worn cliche says – there will be 3 different ones tomorrow night).
So many to choose from. Difficult to list just the 3. The Rising is one that has wormed it’s way into my heart too!

Tonight’s listening;

1 – The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle (1973)

IMHO one of the greatest debut albums in the history of rock and roll.

2 – Darkness On The Edge Of Town (1973)

Probably my favourite Bruce album but always seemed to be overshadowed by his more successful records. No easy listening but showed that he was prepared to risk his popularity for his principles.

3 – The River (1980)

As I was a relatively newcomer to Bruce in 1980 this was my first album of his to purchase. Full of heartfelt, literate but unpretentious songs. He rarely made an album as compelling or one that rewarded repeat listening as this.
