Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD)

Formed in Liverpool by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphries in 1978, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) had a brilliant knack for catchy singles and the music on their first tranche of albums was constantly ambitious and brimful with great ideas. Eno was a definite influence but they probably owe their greatest debt to Kraftwerk.
Their first 2 albums released in 1980 ‘OMD’ and ‘Organisation’ were packed full of excellent electro-pop and were followed by a string of excellently produced early 80s albums but the relationship between McCluskey and Humphries was beginning to breakdown by the time of ‘Pacific Age’ (1986). Shortly after Humphries left the band and McCluskey continued on with the name and released a number of albums but failed to gain an audience at the time.
Still tour occasionally and looking forward to seeing Margaret Egan’s gig report and photos  soon 😎.
